WELCOME
The Center for Bioengineering and Computational Biology at Union College was established in 2005 to improve the quantitative and experimental skills of undergraduate students by promoting interdisciplinary teaching and research endeavors at the interface between the biological and engineering sciences.
Completed during the summer of 2006 and located on the first floor of Butterfield Hall, the Center houses a state-of-the-art Bioengineering Teaching Lab, a Computer Lab, a Design Lab, two student-faculty research labs and an outreach center, complete with a "Virtual Bioengineering Lab" that will provide interactive experiences to on-line visitors.
The Center, part of Union College's Converging Technologies initiative, will coordinate funding to support undergraduate and faculty research, laboratory and course development, speakers, visiting faculty, workshops and a summer science program for high school students. The Center and its activities are made possible through a generous $1.6 million grant from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute to Union College with additional funding provided by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and Union College.
